We tested this high-altitude route for you, above the Aubert canyon and its many cliffs!
It's finally here, the big day! Today, I'm going to take to the skies for the first time and discover via ferrata.
Kevin, Horizon Vertical's tour leader and guide, takes us to the start of the route in Moulis. On the road, the closer we get to the starting point, the more the pressure and excitement mount.
When you're out in the great outdoors, you need safety equipment. That's why a harness, helmet, pulley, lanyards, carabiners, and gloves are provided from the start. To help you understand how the pulley and carabiners work, Kevin shows you how to use them on a "training lifeline." The lifeline is a cable to which you attach two carabiners. In the event of a fall, it's what keeps you steady and prevents you from falling into the void.
On the course, several modules are offered: cliff climbing with small iron steps to facilitate the more difficult passages, passages on very narrow cables with height assistance at hand level to keep you upright, wooden ladders in the void, V-shaped wooden obstacles.
The most striking thing, for me, remains the unmissable zip line!

The arrival and departure of the zip line are the most impressive. The departure, because you have to work on yourself to be able to launch yourself into the void. And the arrival, because you have to control your speed and master your landing (don't worry, just putting your hand on the rope is enough to slow you down!). During the zip line, you are amazed by the beautiful landscapes on the horizon, but also impressed by the void beneath your feet which gives you a real feeling of freedom.
Tips
For the via ferrata, we recommend bringing a small backpack with a water bottle, sunscreen, and a jacket. In terms of clothing, you'll need pants and, more generally, fairly loose clothing that allows for ample movement, along with shoes that offer minimal grip: sneakers or flexible hiking boots.
Horizon Vertical also offers other outdoor activities such as caving, climbing and canyoning, nothing better for thrill-seekers!
