In the heart of the charming town of Saint-Lizier (a must-see!), discover La Grange de la Cité. It's not just a restaurant, nor a farm: it's a philosophy of life shared by Laurent and Émilie, both as a couple and at work.

We keep our feet on the ground and our hands in the soil!”

Emilie and Laurent, managers of the restaurant La Grange de la Cité

The genesis of a dream for two

Laurent, a former landscaper, and Émilie, a creative with a background in environmental studies, have combined their expertise to create a welcoming, hybrid space. Based in Saint-Lizier for seven years, they transformed a farmhouse into a veritable haven where all kinds of people mingle. Initially, the project was modest: a friendly space for snacks and artisanal products. Faced with growing demand and the slow pace of fruit trees bearing their first fruits, they developed a savory offering, with homemade vegetables and organic, healthy, and creative food.

An autonomous renovation, a gradual evolution

For four years, they renovated the farmhouse themselves: house, kitchen, bakehouse, dining room... All this, alternating between summer seasons of service and winters of work, financing each new stage with the previous season's income. Their philosophy: do it themselves, with local materials and a coherence between housing, production and reception.

From field to plate: produce → transform → share

It's all homemade. Vegetables, fruits, eggs, and some of the meat come from their own produce, from their small livestock farms, or from carefully selected local producers. The lasagna is made with Émilie's pasta, the mascarpone for the tiramisus is homemade, as is the ice cream. And all the dishes are cooked in a wood-fired oven, heated every morning with their own wood. The coffee is supplied by a local roaster who himself went to select small organic producers in Latin America, and even when we talk about local organic beers, we check the origin of the barley malt and the type of production.

A lively, cultural and family-friendly place

It's not just a restaurant: it's a place to live. Concerts, exhibitions, game nights, Irish music, and entertainment punctuate the seasons. Laurent and Émilie are also committed to welcoming families: you can eat early or enjoy a nice afternoon snack, the kids can play while the parents have a drink, and there's room for everyone!
