It is at the foot of the charming town of Saint-Lizier, in the Couserans, that the adventure begins. Land of Traces is a unique place! Here, we put our hands to the dough to prepare a complete meal together, just like we used to do in the past.

From wood to bread: we do everything ourselves

The first step sets the tone: chopping wood to light the fire that will be used for cooking. A simple activity, but one that immediately immerses us in the atmosphere.
Then comes the time to prepare the bread: flour, yeast, water... and a good dose of elbow grease. The dough, after resting quietly by the fire, will be put into the already heated stone oven, while we go and harvest the fresh vegetables from the garden.

A fresh and varied harvest

In the garden, it's a festival of colors and scents: zucchini, nettles, cucumbers, tomatoes... it's hard to choose because there are so many! These vegetables will be used to prepare a hot soup and homemade puree to accompany our meal. Once the vegetables are peeled with our famous secret utensil (the gerogette), all that's left is to put everything in a large saucepan and put it on the stove!

Craftsmanship and conviviality

While the vegetables are cooking in the pot, we start a woodworking workshop. The goal: to make our own spatula! Concentration, patience, and precision are required... and the result is a source of pride for both children and parents. Of course, the Pays des Traces team was there to show us how.

Feast time

The bread comes out of the oven with a beautiful crust and an irresistible aroma. The appetizer is ready, the farmhouse cheese is gently melting over the fire... all that's left is to sit down around the table and savor the fruits of our labor. The meal is simple, but each bite has the unique taste of shared moments and homemade food.
