A selection of natural landscapes in the heart of the Pyrenees

Master the art of contemplation…

Are you looking at a superb view? Perfect. Wait a bit before taking out your smartphone or your camera, because this moment is first and foremost for you. You are here, and now.

Focus on the shapes, the lines traced by the curves of valleys or the angles of mountains. Without judgment, focus your attention on what you see, not on what you think you should see.

Chase away the thoughts that interfere with this dialogue with the present moment.

It is this focus on what our senses are capturing at this very moment that allows us to take a step back from our existence, to breathe, to come back completely refreshed, once again creative, dreamy, builders of our life.

Hiking into the unknown also means walking within ourselves, into what is most intimate and magical within us. How far will you go?

Some ideas of places to indulge in contemplation in Couserans (obviously in low season, it's always better).

The village of Cominac

Nestled in the Haut-Couserans Valley, above the village of Ercé, this village offers a remarkable view of the Ariège Pyrenees mountain range. A little tip: go there at sunset to admire the soft light illuminating the famous Couserans peak, creating an unforgettable spectacle.

The Core Pass

Nestled at the crossroads of the Haut-Salat Valley and the Castillonais Valley, the Col de la Core offers breathtaking views of the majestic Mont Valier, lord of the Couserans. Vanlife enthusiasts and early risers can take advantage of the opportunity to camp here and admire a breathtaking sunrise at first light.

The Ars waterfall

This natural gem is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Pyrenees. Stretching over 246m in height and divided into three tiers, it's one of the must-sees in Couserans. So yes, any exceptional location deserves a bit of effort to access this well-deserved viewpoint. But nothing too bad, you'll see!
