The result of extensive work on memory, the permanent exhibition deals with the smugglers of the Pyrenees and Couserans during the Second World War.
A 4-day walk in the footsteps of the smugglers takes place in July, from Saint-Girons to Esterri d'Aneu.

The exhibition deals exclusively with all the events relating to the crossing of the Pyrenees (in particular in the Couserans) during the Second World War by all those who wanted either to join the allied forces and continue the armed struggle, or to escape the Nazis. In a room as large as it is bright, you will travel on a journey full of teaching and emotion: from the German occupation in Ariège to the internment camps in Spain, after learning about the deportation of Jews in Ariège, the smugglers and the past with the following sub-chapters: escapees from France, the different networks, itineraries, accommodation and passages, tragic or sometimes happy, allied pilots shot down on our territory, troop children, places of memory, martyrs…
