Mountain biking in the Piedmont: Anthony's favorite.
Today I'm telling you about a mountain bike outing on a beautiful autumn day!
- Because at in autumn it is less hot, there are fewer people on the trails, it's a great season for mountain biking!
- Because The Piedmont has a great selection of mountain bike trails : departing from Ste-Croix Volvestre, Tourtouse, Caumont, Taurignan, Contrazy, Betchat, Bagert!
- Because there are blue circuits, which are not too difficult but still resemble mountain biking (unlike the green circuits which are often more like hybrid biking)
- Because then I can put my mountain bike and my son Lucien's (9 years old) and we can share a good afternoon of father-son bonding without it being too hard for him or too boring for me!
- When it's really wet, we can also make our famous “Bouillasse Competition!” which consist of finishing as dirty as possible
- Because in addition, at the end of summer and the beginning of autumn, we sometimes come across mushrooms near our wheels ! So I always have a knife and a paper bag in my little mountain bike bag!
- Just be careful during the hunting season from the end of September: dress in bright colors!
Perfect weather, perfect day perfect

We went to Sainte-Croix-Volvestre to do Maharage Trail No. 2 Mountain Bike : the start is near the lake and takes us on a loop through the beautiful Royal Forest!
We first climb quietly but surely on a small road before finding the single-track trails in the forest. The difference in altitude is mainly at the beginning, then we walk with few technical difficulties, beautiful landscapes and a few mushrooms!
13,5 km and 260m of elevation gain on the counter. Lucien liked it, he's not overcooked: it's good, we can meet up with his sister Rosie who was at a friend's house, we eat a good meal and we go spend the afternoon all together at the Sainte-Croix-Volvestre lake!
Also worth testing:
We went to our neighbors at Mas d'Azil: the Tour du lac de Filhet by mountain bike is also great!! Click here to see this trail.
