First of all…
What is a guest room?

Guest rooms are furnished rooms with access to a bathroom and a toilet, located in the home of a resident with a view to welcoming tourists, for a fee, for one or more nights and providing them with household linen and breakfast. (article L. 324-3)
It is limited to five rooms for a maximum simultaneous capacity of fifteen people.
You must display prices three times outside, inside and behind the door of the rooms.
Table d'hôte: an optional service
"The term 'table d'hôtes' indicates that you offer meals. A table d'hôtes is not a restaurant. It's a service that complements your accommodation, reserved exclusively for guests staying in the guest rooms. The meal must be eaten at the family table and consist of a single menu." service-public.fr

You then need:
- Respect the rules of hygiene and food safety
- Inform the consumer about the prices charged (for example, drinks)
- Hold the operating license and/or a liquor license or restaurant to serve alcoholic beverages as part of meals. The sale of non-alcoholic beverages is free.
Your essential steps

Your buildings must comply with current construction, safety and town planning standards.
The regulations for swimming pools, hot tubs and playgrounds differ depending on whether the facilities are for family use or for collective private use.
Declare your guest room
- Cerfa declaration for guest rooms is available at the town hall, or you can electronically declare your guest room HERE]. .
- The declaration must be redone in the event of a change in accommodation: capacity, major works, etc.

It is strongly recommended to:
- Have a police form completed for foreign customers (including the EU)
- to insure against civil liability, damage to property and persons and loss of income (pro)
- to secure your internet access and remind you of its use

- Value Added Tax VAT: Based on current thresholds.
- SACEM and SPRE offer reduced rates under certain conditions if you have a music streaming device (TV, radio, HIFI, etc.)
Collect the Tourist Tax
The purpose of the tourist tax is to ensure that the local taxpayer does not bear the costs of tourism alone. In fact, the revenue from this tax is allocated to promoting tourism... It's a virtuous circle! It is paid by people who spend at least one night in the Couserans area and who are not domiciled in the Couserans region.

How to remit this tax?
- Declare online the tax collected from the Couserans Community of Communes Pyrenees.
- You receive a notice of the amounts to be paid
- You pay the tax to the Public Treasury.
