The Saint-Girons market

“A Saturday Morning on Earth” ! It is sometimes a difficult challenge, in our mountains as elsewhere, to accept our differences, to communicate, to exchange, to share.

However, the place and the moment that crystallizes all "Couserans" is the Saint-Girons market. You can see all the benefits of the cultural mix that has been taking place in Ariège for decades.

Local traditions are very much alive, carried by centuries of know-how and mountain productions and, no offense to certain obtuse minds, they are also nourished by the successive arrivals of new inhabitants. All share the attachment to the land in the first sense. And this one makes them good!

So come and stroll through the colorful alleys, feel the smells of spices or grilling, taste a cheese, a meat, a charcuterie or a mountain honey – and right after eat a Vietnamese spring roll or a Lebanese sandwich – buy your organic but above all local vegetables or berries, treat yourself to a piece of jewelry or a handmade soap, bring back an aloe-vera for your home and so many other purchases to support a very real economy.
