A curiosity that is close to the body: the millasIt takes its name from its original composition based on millet. A close relative of polenta, it is now cooked from cornmeal. La Balard chocolate factory also made in the excellence, in Saint Girons. You can find his chocolate specialties : "Balours", bear prints, and "Couserans slates". Its chocolates and pastries are to taste urgently !
And do we still need to introduce you to the ice cream de Philippe Faur ? of the original creations sweet, but also savory to try absolutely (we particularly recommend the foie gras ice cream this season)!
“Small producers”
Find our many producers of honey and its gourmet derivatives (gingerbread, candies, etc.) in our grocery stores, on our markets, for direct sale. The variety of local honeys is incredible (mountain, full flower, heather, rhododendron, acacia, chestnut, bramble, lime, etc.).
The Couserans is a land of small-scale, even family-run, artisanal production with very common subsistence farming: each season brings its occasional sellers of apple juice, jams, birch sap, cakes, surplus fruit, etc. The opportunity for wonderful encounters, good tastings and, sometimes, the starting point for vocations!
