THE spot for nature and thrills in Couserans! Outdoor activities are of course available everywhere in Couserans. However, around the resorts of Aulus and Guzet, you have a great selection of outdoor activities!
Winter is the ski station which unites the two communes of Aulus and Ustou, from the Col de Latrappe, passing through Guzet 1400 and the Prat Mataou, to the Col d'Escots and the Pic du Freychet.
All year round, and especially in summer, it is a lot of sensations in a small radius!
In this pure mountain area:
The Guzet Express monorail sled
One of the longest in Europe! A steep drop, a magnificent landscape and a frantic descent at more than 40 km/h… or not! Since everyone goes at the speed of their choice, releasing the brake more or less. This way, you can share the activity as a family. You can even get on the same sled with the little ones! The summer chairlift ride also offers breathtaking views of the ridges bordering Spain. You can also take the chairlift with a pedestrian pass available at the ticket office. Or you can ride a downhill bike…
Despite my apprehension about thrilling activities, I gave it a go. How can I recommend this flagship activity of Guzet without having tried it? Very gently and holding on to the brake on the first part of the course... Then, once the stress had passed and I had confidence in the machine, I was able to enjoy and appreciate this new way of descending the Picou effortlessly and, ultimately, with great pleasure!
The Guzet express luge is a lovely chairlift ride up in the summer, followed by a great dose of thrills in just a few minutes of descent! I really recommend it!
The Guzet Mountain Bike Park
Le Guzet Mountain Bike Park (Downhill and Enduro mountain biking): a very comprehensive FFC-certified mountain biking area. From green runs that can be done as a family with children who know how to ride a bike (from around 8 years old), to black runs. From the blue runs, you start with slightly banked turns, and a parallel "single" (narrow path) allows you to gradually try your first jumps. For experienced riders, the red run has a variation "north shore", and the black ones are crazy!
The Couserans Trail Area
Aulus-les-Bains was the first “Trail Station©” labeled in the Pyrenees ! Independent since then, you will find all the best ingredients to discover trail running, or to improve your skills with magnificent routes in the mountains, but also a training stadium and a permanent vertical kilometer! Reception base in season, and relay at the thermal baths in low season, with topos, lockers and showers. An essential place for Pyrenean trail running, and don't miss the Ars Waterfall Tour : a legendary mountain raceIts long version reaches the Guzet station, and this route is also part of the permanent topos available online or on site.
Acro'lus (the treetop adventure course)
The Aulus thermal park is not only a haven of freshness in summer for your family picnics: its century old trees also host a first-rate high-altitude adventure course near the springs. Equipped to accommodate children from 3 years old with its "pitchounets" course, continuous lifeline on all courses, red and black courses for the more athletic, zip lines... A treat!
The MountainKart
This young activity in Guzet is developing and gaining momentum. The descents with these karts with 3 large wheels, without engines, are guaranteed sensations. New track in 2022 from Prat Mataou to Souleillous, reserved for those over 14! Full throttle! And a new track "Pitchou Kart" for children from 7/8 years old, in the Squirrel area!

You also find a riding stable to Aulus and Ustou, from paraglider, a rock of initiation climbing and, of course, departures for majestic hikes to lakes, peaks or even cross-border summits!
And after all this outpouring of energy and sensations, what could be better than taking it easy at the end of the day at the aqua-relaxation area of Aulus les Bains ?!
