THE spot for nature and thrills in Couserans! Outdoor activities are of course available everywhere in Couserans. However, around the resorts of Aulus and Guzet, you have a great selection of outdoor activities!
Winter is the ski station which unites the two communes of Aulus and Ustou, from the Col de Latrappe, passing through Guzet 1400 and the Prat Mataou, to the Col d'Escots and the Pic du Freychet.
All year round, and especially in summer, it is a lot of sensations in a small radius!
In this pure mountain area:
The Guzet Express monorail sled
One of the longest in Europe! A steep drop, magnificent scenery, and a thrilling descent at over 40 km/h… or not! Everyone goes at their own pace, releasing the brake more or less. This makes it a great activity for the whole family. You can even ride on the same sled with the little ones! In summer, the chairlift ride offers breathtaking views of the border ridges with Spain. You can also take the chairlift with just a pedestrian pass, available at the ticket office. Or even ride up with a downhill bike…
Despite my apprehension about thrilling activities, I gave it a go. How can I recommend this flagship activity of Guzet without having tried it? Very gently and holding on to the brake on the first part of the course... Then, once the stress had passed and I had confidence in the machine, I was able to enjoy and appreciate this new way of descending the Picou effortlessly and, ultimately, with great pleasure!
The Guzet express luge is a lovely chairlift ride up in the summer, followed by a great dose of thrills in just a few minutes of descent! I really recommend it!
The Guzet Mountain Bike Park
The Guzet Mountain Bike Park (Downhill and Enduro Mountain Biking): a comprehensive mountain biking area certified by the French Cycling Federation (FFC). From green trails suitable for families with children who can ride a bike (from around 8 years old), to black trails. Starting with the blue trails, the turns become slightly banked, and a parallel singletrack allows riders to gradually attempt their first jumps. For experienced riders, the red trail has a "north shore" variant , and the black trails are insane!
The Couserans Trail Area
Aulus-les-Bains was the first officially recognized "Trail Station©" in the Pyrenees ! Now self-sufficient, it offers everything you need to discover trail running or hone your skills with magnificent mountain routes, a training stadium, and a permanent vertical kilometer course! It serves as a welcome center during the season and a relay point at the thermal baths during the off-season, with guidebooks, lockers, and showers. A must-visit destination for Pyrenean trail running, don't miss the Tourn de la Cascade d'Ars in June : a legendary mountain race . The longer version connects to the Guzet resort, and this route is featured in the permanent guidebooks available online or on-site.
Acro'lus (the treetop adventure course)
The Aulus thermal park is not only a haven of coolness in summer for family picnics: its centuries-old trees also provide a first-rate treetop adventure course near the springs. Equipped to welcome children from 3 years old with its "pitchounets" course, continuous belay system on all courses, red and black courses for the more athletic, zip lines… A real treat!
The MountainKart
This new activity in Guzet is growing and expanding. The downhill runs on these three-wheeled, motorless karts are guaranteed to be thrilling . A new track will open in 2022, starting from Prat Mataou and ending at Souleillous, reserved for those over 14! Full speed ahead! And a new "Pitchou Kart" track for children aged 7/8 and up, in the Écureuil area!

You also find a riding stable to Aulus and Ustou, from paraglider, a rock of initiation climbing and, of course, departures for majestic hikes to lakes, peaks or even cross-border summits!
And after all this outpouring of energy and sensations, what could be better than taking it easy at the end of the day at the aqua-relaxation area of Aulus les Bains ?!
