In the heart of the Ariège Pyrenees Regional Natural Park

A Regional Natural Park (PNR) is an inhabited rural territory whose fauna, flora, environments, landscapes, architecture, cultural heritage and know-how are nationally recognized for their remarkable qualities.

The Regional Natural Park has been created in 2009 in 141 communes of the Ariège Pyrenees, recognized for the richness and diversity of their natural, cultural and human heritage.
The perimeter of the Ariège Pyrenees Regional Natural Park is almost entirely focused on Couserans, pledge of the quality of our natural spaces and promoting our history and our know-how.

What does a Regional Natural Park do?

The Park initiates or leads actions in areas as diverse as protection of flora and fauna, The restoration of built heritage, The preservation of landscapes, The promotion of energy savings and renewable energies, environmental management territorial education, The valorization of forests and wood, The promotion of local know-how and products, etc.

It is also a major partner of the Couserans Pyrénées Tourist Office in the valuation of a green, responsible and sustainable tourism.

We are fortunate to have many skills nature on the Couserans: naturalists, agronomists, botanists, herbalists, market gardeners, mountain guides, the specialists themselves are not mistaken and have chosen to live and keep their passion alive in our mountains!

For half a day, a full day, or a weekend course, you can perfect your knowledge of botany, flora and fauna, gardening, or even DIY using natural products.

Outings and workshops are organized regularly, especially in the summer season of course, by passionate with which, in complete relaxation, you can re-tame your wild side!
