Le Pelioou is an old cow barn located at an altitude of 950 m, on a south-facing promontory between the forest and the pastures.
The panorama is superb: towards the bottom you can take in the quiet landscape of the valley, with the Garbet river and the village of Ercé, while towards the top we have the beauty and the austerity of the summits of the high Ariège.
Around the barn, the village shepherds used to spend their summers cultivating the terraced land, which was particularly fertile because of the sunshine and the presence of numerous springs and streams to water the crops.
Today, the old terraces are no longer cultivated, though they are still grazed on by cows and Mérens horses.
Accommodation type: Restored barn
